At least two bandits were killed when police thwarted an attack at Danmarke village in Kurfi Local Government Area of Kastina state, the police<\/a> in the North West state have said. <\/p>\n

Spokesman for the Katsina police command, Gambo Isah, who made this known on Friday, said other assailants escaped with gunshot wounds. <\/p>\n

According to him, the attackers had stormed the village shooting sporadically at the residence of a local chief.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, Friday, at about 0130 hours, a distress call was received that terrorists in their numbers, shooting sporadically with AK47 rifles, attacked the residence of one, Sarkin Fulani at Danmarke village in Dagwarwa District of Kurfi LGA.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe DPO Kurfi Division led a Police patrol team to the area, engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel and successfully repelled them,\u201d the police spokesman said.<\/p>\n

Two corpses of the bandits neutralised during the operation were recovered alongside motorcycles and some rustled cows.<\/p>\n

Isah said that a number of terrorists had been neutralised or escaped with gunshot wounds, adding that search parties were combing the nearby bushes with a view of arresting them or recovering their corpses.<\/p>\n

He, therefore, urged the people to provide credible intelligence to the police on suspicious movements and persons in their communities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
