Preparations for the Labour Party primary elections in Imo State on Saturday, April 15, are in full swing.<\/p>\n

WITHIN NIGERIA has learned that ten aspirants from the party in the state will compete for the governorship ticket tomorrow.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that the state party’s screening committee had previously screened all aspirants.<\/p>\n

It was learned, however, that even though the official list of aspirants who qualified for the primary election has yet to be determined, the aspirants’ preparations continue.<\/p>\n

Festus Onywjwulisi, chairman of the Labour Party in Imo State, told Nigerian Tribune that the party is fully prepared for the primary election and that nothing will stop it.<\/p>\n

The Labour Party<\/a> boss insisted that the crisis witnessed during the delegates’ Congress was unprecedented in the state.<\/p>\n

Apapa-Led Faction Of Labour Party Begins Screening Of Gov\u2019shop Aspirants In Bayelsa, Kogi And Imo States<\/h3>\n

The screening of governorship candidates on the Labour Party (LP) platform for Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo states has begun.<\/p>\n

The National Working Committee (NWC), led by the acting National Chairman of the Labour Party, Lamidi Apapa, revealed that a total of 24 candidates from the three states will be screened.<\/p>\n

At a press conference on Tuesday, Apapa expressed confidence that the exercise would go smoothly, noting that a committee would be formed to address any grievances that arose after the primaries.<\/p>\n

He noted that;<\/strong><\/p>\n

Right now we have screened four gubernatorial aspirants, we have screened two from Bayelsa and two from Imo. So far, they have all done their best; they have convinced us and the committee has screened them as qualified to appear for the primaries that will come up on the 16th of this month.<\/p>\n

We are expecting 13 aspirants from Imo state and we are equally expecting nine aspirants from Bayelsa, two from Kogi state \u2013 24 all together. If anybody has an issue, he\/she should bring his appeal by tomorrow and the committee is already waiting to attend to those that have an issue.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
