{"id":262889,"date":"2023-04-16T14:36:21","date_gmt":"2023-04-16T13:36:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=262889"},"modified":"2023-04-16T14:36:21","modified_gmt":"2023-04-16T13:36:21","slug":"four-killed-as-car-rams-into-pedestrians-in-yobe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/04\/16\/four-killed-as-car-rams-into-pedestrians-in-yobe\/","title":{"rendered":"Four killed as car rams into pedestrians in Yobe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At least four people were killed and seven hospitalised after a Mercedes wagon car rammed into pedestrians in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.<\/p>\n<p>The tragic incident happened on Friday night around 8.30 pm on Gashua Road.<\/p>\n<p>According to Daily Trust, an eyewitness who doesn\u2019t want to be mentioned said the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/04\/15\/hit-and-run-driver-kills-okada-rider-two-passengers-in-ogun\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> driver<\/a> of the car hit the victims while they were sitting on a table close to a shop.<\/p>\n<p>The eyewitness explained that the accident happened due to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/04\/suspected-yahoo-boy-crushes-3-auto-mechanics-in-delta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">over speeding<\/a> and when the driver approached the victims, he tried to negotiate but lost control of the car and hit them.<\/p>\n<p>He added that four people died while seven sustained injuries and are receiving medical attention in a hospital in Damaturu.<\/p>\n<p>The Director General of Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, Mamman Muhammad, in a statement on Saturday said the state governor, Mai Mala Buni, has directed a full investigation of the accident<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At least four people were killed and seven hospitalised after a Mercedes wagon car rammed into pedestrians in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
