{"id":26325,"date":"2021-04-26T19:23:42","date_gmt":"2021-04-26T18:23:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=26325"},"modified":"2021-04-26T19:23:42","modified_gmt":"2021-04-26T18:23:42","slug":"woman-in-critical-condition-after-taking-covid-19-vaccine-in-nasarawa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/26\/woman-in-critical-condition-after-taking-covid-19-vaccine-in-nasarawa\/","title":{"rendered":"Woman in critical condition after taking COVID-19 vaccine in Nasarawa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A volunteer worker, Goselle Manya, is lying critically ill in hospital after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine in Nasarawa state.<\/p>\n<p>It was gathered that Manya, a volunteer worker with a primary health care centre in the Lafia Local Government Area of the state fell ill after receiving the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/16\/nphcda-8439-nigerians-reported-mild-side-effects-of-astrazeneca-vaccine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AstraZeneca vaccine<\/a> in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Narrating her ordeal to Vanguard, the 31-year-old explained that she took the vaccine on March 22 and experienced dizziness 15 minutes after she took the vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter I took the vaccine, 15 minutes later I started feeling dizzy but thought the effect was just a usual sign. It was not until I got home that I started having a severe headache with chest pain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI never had any sign of illness until the vaccine was administered on me,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>She said after reporting the effect of the vaccine on her at the facility where she is serving as a volunteer, she was told it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/24\/nigeria-needs-n352bn-to-tackle-malaria-in-2021-says-ehanire\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">malaria<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But she observed that after taking malaria drugs and other medications, the situation became worse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThree weeks after I completed the malaria treatment, I started having rashes all over my body with persistent severe headache, as the situation continued, one of my church members, a staff member of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/12\/substances-behind-strange-illness-in-kano-laced-with-poison-says-nafdac\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NAFDAC<\/a> (National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control), who was concerned about my health situation asked me to come to their office for further examination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I got there, the officers asked me some questions and later took me to Dalhatu Arafat Specialist Hospital where they admitted me for three days. The doctor asked me to run some tests before further treatment could be carried out which requires a huge amount of money and I don\u2019t have the money. I am just a volunteer health worker.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am still down. I can\u2019t go to work and I don\u2019t have money to carry out the test recommended by the doctor.
