Property worth over N80m was reportedly destroyed after a raging inferno engulfed the popular Oja-Tuntun Baboko market complex in Ilorin, Kwara state<\/a> capital. <\/p>\n

The Eidel-fitr eve fire incident occurred at about 07.22pm at the market which is located in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n

Spokesman of the state fire service, Hassan Adekunle confirmed the incident. <\/p>\n

He said that firefighters reduced the impact and enormity of the inferno which could have spread to other shops and cause more serious destruction in the market.<\/p>\n

The leading officer of the firefighters crew said their timely arrival at the scene enabled them to limit the damage caused by the ravaging fire.<\/p>\n

Out of 1070 lockup shops, six were affected by the fire incident.<\/p>\n

The officer said the fire incident was reportedly caused by the carelessness of one of the shop owners.<\/p>\n

Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, who wished all Muslims and Nigerians both at home and in the Diaspora happy Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, advised them to be safety conscious, especially with their cooking materials.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
