{"id":264426,"date":"2023-04-24T05:52:12","date_gmt":"2023-04-24T04:52:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=264426"},"modified":"2023-04-24T05:52:12","modified_gmt":"2023-04-24T04:52:12","slug":"ghana-married-police-inspector-arrested-for-killing-girlfriend-over-alleged-cheating","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/04\/24\/ghana-married-police-inspector-arrested-for-killing-girlfriend-over-alleged-cheating\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana: Married police inspector arrested for killing girlfriend over alleged cheating"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Ghanaian police inspector, Ahmed Twumasi, has been arrested for killing his 27-year-old girlfriend, Victoria Daapa, popularly known as Maa Adwoa over alleged cheating in Kumasi.<\/p>\n<p>Twumasi, who is married with children, allegedly shot the mother of one at close range on Thursday 20th April 2023, at Adum in front of Dufie Towers in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi.<\/p>\n<p>Maa Adwoa was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.<\/p>\n<p>The Ghana Police Service, in a press release on Sunday evening, April 23, 2023, disclosed that the suspect was arrested at his hideout at Sekyere near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-264427 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2023\/04\/kunlenet07\/2023\/04\/24\/Ahmed-Twumasi-and-late-girlfriend.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"568\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2023\/04\/kunlenet07\/2023\/04\/24\/Ahmed-Twumasi-and-late-girlfriend.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2023\/04\/kunlenet07\/2023\/04\/24\/Ahmed-Twumasi-and-late-girlfriend-300x237.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The statement read, &#8220;The Police have this evening arrested a Police officer, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, who is alleged to have shot and killed a female adult, who was believed to be his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/04\/21\/kaduna-man-allegedly-kills-girlfriend-for-planning-to-dump-him\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">girlfriend<\/a>,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe shooting incident occurred in Kumasi, in the Ashanti region, on Thursday, 20th April 2023. The suspect, who has been on the run since the incident, was arrested at Sekyere, near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region as a result of a special Police operation, which was launched following the shooting incident. Because he was holding a gun, we could not attempt to arrest him,&#8221; the eyewitness narrated.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-264435 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2023\/04\/kunlenet07\/2023\/04\/24\/Maa-Adwoa.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"923\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2023\/04\/kunlenet07\/2023\/04\/24\/Maa-Adwoa.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2023\/04\/kunlenet07\/2023\/04\/24\/Maa-Adwoa-234x300.jpg 234w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Maa Adwoa\u2019s uncle, who was also present at the scene, stated that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/04\/19\/update-police-dismiss-inspector-who-killed-delta-trader\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">police officer<\/a> first shot her in the forehead and then multiple times in the stomach and other parts of her body until she fell and died.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to GHPage, the deceased&#8217;s father, Atakora revealed that his late daughter had a man he knew as her boyfriend and they both shared a baby girl.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe man I know is a footballer. He even has a brother who has played for the Black Stars before. He and Madwoa have a daughter together.
