Prof Florence Obi, Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, UNICAL, has stated that she will need at least N2.5 billion to host the Nigeria University Games, NUGA 2026.<\/p>\n

She revealed this on Monday during a press conference where she listed the events planned for the school’s one-week 35th convocation ceremony.<\/p>\n

She stated that the organisation would hold an endowment fundraiser in the hopes of raising money to buy, renovate, and fix the facilities the organisation needs for the sporting festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Prof Obi disclosed that a NUGA team will soon visit the institution to assess the state of facilities for the games.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the team finds that the facilities are not up to date, the hosting right could be taken away from us to Ahmadu Bello University, ABU.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is why we want to launch the Endowment Fund. We need, at least, N2.5 billion to get ourselves ready for the NUGA,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
