President Muhammadu Buhari has sought the Senate to approve a request to pay the judgment debt in the sum of $566,754,584.31, \u00a398,526,012.00 and N226 billion owed by the Federal Government through the issuance of promissory notes.<\/p>\n

Buhari\u2019s letter of request was read at plenary by Senate President Ahmad Lawan on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, President Buhari is currently wrapping up his administration activities with a valedictory Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.<\/p>\n

The meeting which he is presiding over, may culminate in the dissolution of the cabinet.<\/p>\n

But before the cabinet is dissolved, members will put the finishing touches to outstanding issues, cross all t\u2019s and dot every i\u2019s to a number of documents and treat all remaining memoranda from various government Ministries, Departments and Agencies.<\/p>\n

Buhari is billed to hand over the baton of leadership to a successor on Monday at the Eagle Square Abuja.<\/p>\n

Prior to now, the FEC had been awarding contracts and effecting cost augmentations for contracts to the tune of billions of naira.<\/p>\n

Before the valedictory session, preceded by an exchange of banters among cabinet members, Wednesday, President Buhari performed the swearing-in of seven Federal Commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation, Fiscal and Allocation Commission (RMFC).<\/p>\n

Among those sworn in by the President ahead of the valedictory session currently ongoing are Peter Okpara (Imo), Senator Ayogu Eze (Enugu), Kolade Abimbola (Oyo), Rekiya Ayuba-Haruna (Kebbi), Hauwa Aliyu (Jigawa), Ismaila Agaka (Kwara), and Amb Ayuba Ngako representing the FCT.<\/p>\n

Before breaking into a closed-door session, the FEC received the key highlights of the report of the Health Reform Committee chaired by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The committee was put in place to develop a roadmap for achieving Universal Health Coverage in the country.<\/p>\n
