{"id":270363,"date":"2023-05-25T14:25:38","date_gmt":"2023-05-25T13:25:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=270363"},"modified":"2023-05-25T14:25:38","modified_gmt":"2023-05-25T13:25:38","slug":"breaking-kano-govt-acquits-doguwa-of-murder-charges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/05\/25\/breaking-kano-govt-acquits-doguwa-of-murder-charges\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: Kano Govt Acquits Doguwa Of Murder Charges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kano State Ministry of Justice says House leader, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/05\/19\/police-conclude-investigation-of-alleged-homicide-case-against-alhassan-doguwa\/\">Alhassan Ado Doguwa<\/a>, is not guilty of charges of culpable homicide and mischief by fire levelled against him.<\/p>\n<p>The Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Musa Abdullahi Lawan, made this known while briefing journalists in Kano on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that there were no proofs to corroborate the allegations against Doguwa, noting that those who incriminated him could not make their accusations stick. <\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cBased on the foregoing facts and observations, we cannot substantiate charges of criminal conspiracy, mischief by fire and culpable homicide against Doguwa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cannot find sufficient evidence to link him with the said offences considering that we are faced with so many inculpatory and exculpatory evidence for and against him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe statements of those that implicated Doguwa were full of contradictions and could not find medical evidence to prove the death of the victims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe law is clear that the allegations that Doguwa killed people cannot be substantiated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the eight to 12 suspects arrested would be charged with mischief by fire under Section 336 of the Penal Code (as amended).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kano State Ministry of Justice says House leader, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, is not guilty of charges of culpable homicide and mischief by fire levelled against him.
