{"id":270668,"date":"2023-05-27T15:11:54","date_gmt":"2023-05-27T14:11:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=270668"},"modified":"2023-05-27T15:11:54","modified_gmt":"2023-05-27T14:11:54","slug":"four-dead-as-phone-pressing-driver-rams-car-into-truck-on-lagos-ibadan-expressway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/05\/27\/four-dead-as-phone-pressing-driver-rams-car-into-truck-on-lagos-ibadan-expressway\/","title":{"rendered":"Four dead as phone-pressing driver rams car into truck on Lagos-Ibadan expressway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An auto crash in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/05\/26\/police-arrest-killers-of-ogun-ex-permanent-secretary-wife\/\">Ogun state<\/a> end of the busy Lagos-Ibadan highway on Saturday has claimed four lives. <\/p>\n<p>The fatal mishap took place after the driver of the vehicle occupied by the deceased passengers rammed his car into a moving truck while pressing phone. <\/p>\n<p>The accident happened opposite Mountain Top University, around Rain Oil Petrol Station at the early hours of Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>It involved a Lexus RX350 car with registration number, KTU738HM, and a Mack marked, T21024LA.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) disclosed that a total of six male adults were involved; \u201ctwo persons were unhurt while four were recorded dead from the crash.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Florence Okpe, the FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, said: \u201cThe suspected causes of the fatal crash were excessive speed, use of phone while driving, which led to loss of control on the part of the Lexus driver and he rammed into a moving truck.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Okpe disclosed that the remains of the dead victims were deposited at the Real Divine Hospital morgue in Ibafo.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the FRSC Sector Commander FRSC in Ogun, Ahmed Umar, has cautioned motorists on the use of phone while driving and the dangers associated with such.<\/p>\n<p>Umar commiserated with the family of the victims, advising them to contact the Ibafo office of the FRSC for more information about the crash.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An auto crash in the Ogun state end of the busy Lagos-Ibadan highway on Saturday has claimed four lives.
