{"id":271138,"date":"2023-05-30T06:34:47","date_gmt":"2023-05-30T05:34:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=271138"},"modified":"2023-05-30T06:34:47","modified_gmt":"2023-05-30T05:34:47","slug":"lalong-left-n200bn-debt-for-me-says-plateau-gov-mutfwang","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/05\/30\/lalong-left-n200bn-debt-for-me-says-plateau-gov-mutfwang\/","title":{"rendered":"Lalong left N200bn debt for me, says Plateau gov, Mutfwang"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New Plateau State governor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/05\/30\/gov-mutfwang-declares-state-of-emergency-in-plateau\/\">Caleb Mutfwang<\/a>, has said the debt profile of the middlebelt state is unhealthy. <\/p>\n<p>This is as he disclosed that he inherited a state with a debt burden of N200 billion, from his predecessor, Solomon Lalong. <\/p>\n<p>He made the disclosure during his inaugural speech after his swearing-in at a ceremony in Jos, the state capital.<\/p>\n<p>He, however, said the humongous debt would not deter him from serving the state dutifully and diligently. <\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cThe state is presently under a huge debt burden of over N200 billion, the healthcare sector is in need of urgent attention, our school system requires a comprehensive overhaul, our infrastructure is decayed and inadequate, and practically, every sector requires urgent redress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut in spite of the huge debt the state is currently plagued with, that will not deter us from serving you effectively.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are committed to breaking the state\u2019s over-dependence on one source of revenue which is based in Abuja and managed sometimes with uncertainty.
