{"id":271717,"date":"2023-06-01T18:14:43","date_gmt":"2023-06-01T17:14:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=271717"},"modified":"2023-06-01T18:44:43","modified_gmt":"2023-06-01T17:44:43","slug":"breaking-i-was-forced-to-sign-presidential-poll-result-in-kogi-witness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/06\/01\/breaking-i-was-forced-to-sign-presidential-poll-result-in-kogi-witness\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: I Was Forced To Sign Presidential Poll Result In Kogi \u2013 Witness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first witness of the People Democratic Party on Thursday, Joe Agada, has alleged that BVAS devices were manipulated in the last presidential election and that he was forced to sign the results as the state collation officer in Kogi State.<\/p>\n<p>Agada who is a retired captain stated this during his cross-examination at the Presidential Election Petition Court where the outcome of the February 25 election is being challenged.<\/p>\n<p>The trained pharmacist, who was identified by the counsel for the Independent National Electoral Commission and the cross-examiner, Abdullahi Aliyu SAN as a past witness in 2019 for the petitioners \u2013 PDP and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar \u2013 informed the court that he had the opportunity of visiting some polling units in some Local Government Areas.<\/p>\n<p>When asked by INEC\u2019s counsel about a purported manipulation of ballot papers and whether it was done in his presence, he answered in the affirmative.<\/p>\n<p>More so, he also alleged that he was present while the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/04\/18\/2023-elections-how-i-benefited-from-bvas-cash-crunch-abaribe\/\">BVAS devices<\/a> were manipulated.<\/p>\n<p>Aliyu had asked, \u201d You were present while the BVAS devices were also manipulated?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, in not less than 20 Polling Units I visited across 2 senatorial districts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed while affirming that he spent between 3 to 5 minutes in the affected areas.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Agada alleged that he was forced to sign the results at the state level by INEC\u2019s officials.<\/p>\n<p>He said he had to sign the forms because failure to do so, he would have been denied a copy to his party.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201d I was forced to sign which I protested because without signing I was going to be denied a copy to my party.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He, however, admitted that he did not mention the incident in his witness deposition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first witness of the People Democratic Party on Thursday, Joe Agada, has alleged that BVAS devices were manipulated in the last presidential election and that he was forced to sign the results as the state collation officer in Kogi State.
