{"id":271775,"date":"2023-06-02T06:24:30","date_gmt":"2023-06-02T05:24:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=271775"},"modified":"2023-06-02T06:24:30","modified_gmt":"2023-06-02T05:24:30","slug":"subsidy-removal-nnpc-gives-deadline-for-cessation-of-fuel-queues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/06\/02\/subsidy-removal-nnpc-gives-deadline-for-cessation-of-fuel-queues\/","title":{"rendered":"Subsidy removal: NNPC gives deadline for cessation of fuel queues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/06\/02\/fuel-subsidy-not-budgeted-for-in-2023-kyari-tells-apc\/\">Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL)<\/a> says the fuel queues that greeted the recent removal of subsidy will soon disappear. <\/p>\n<p>On Monday during his inaugural speech at the Eagle Square in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu said the era of subsidy payment on fuel has ended, a move that led to a hike in price across the nation.<\/p>\n<p>Fuel queues also resurfaced across the country as Nigerians scramble for the premium product which rose from around N185 per litre to between N400 and N600 per litre.<\/p>\n<p>But speaking during an interview on Channels Television\u2019s Politics Today, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, Mele Kyari, says the fuel queues will soon be a thing of the past. <\/p>\n<p>Kyari assured Nigerians that the situation won\u2019t last as the NNPC was working assiduously to address challenges. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t see it stand beyond another day or two (days) max,\u201d the NNPCL boss said. \u201cI don\u2019t see it (queues) actually stand beyond Saturday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have supply for the key trouble with PMS system is supply. There are over 810 million litres of petroleum in depots, tanks and fuel stations across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, you don\u2019t have the problem of transferring those. That means you have supply on the ground in your house. People panic and run to fuel stations to buy.
