{"id":271782,"date":"2023-06-02T07:10:37","date_gmt":"2023-06-02T06:10:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=271782"},"modified":"2023-06-02T07:10:37","modified_gmt":"2023-06-02T06:10:37","slug":"three-suspected-cultists-remanded-for-murder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/06\/02\/three-suspected-cultists-remanded-for-murder\/","title":{"rendered":"Three suspected cultists remanded for murder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Lagos State High Court located at Tafawa Balewa Square on Thursday remanded three suspected members of an unlawful society called &#8216;IBILE&#8217;, Jemilu Adamu, Babatunde Gbenga and Jimoh Idris, for alleged murder.<\/p>\n<p>According to report,\u00a0Justice Yetunde Adesanya remanded the suspects after they took their plea.<\/p>\n<p>The defendants are facing two counts of membership in an unlawful society preferred against them by the state.<\/p>\n<p>The state prosecuting counsel, Olayemi Shofolu, told the court that the defendants committed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/03\/19\/17-arrested-for-electoral-offences-in-lagos\/\">offences<\/a> on April 22, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>He said the suspects unlawfully killed one Owolabi Ajibola.<\/p>\n<p>Shofolu told the court that the incident took place at Odus Bus Stop by Kirikiri Road in Olodi Apapa, Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor also said the defendants were found to belong to a fraternity group called \u2018<em>IBILE,<\/em>\u2019 an unlawful society.<\/p>\n<p>According to the prosecutor, the offence committed contravened Sections 223 and 42 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.<\/p>\n<p>However, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/06\/14\/drug-trafficking-court-convicts-two-abba-kyari-co-defendants\/\">defendants<\/a> pleaded not guilty to the charge against them.<\/p>\n<p>Given the not-guilty plea, the prosecutor asked the court for a trial date.<\/p>\n<p>Consequently, Justice Adesanya adjourned the case till November 1 and 2 for trial.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Lagos State High Court located at Tafawa Balewa Square on Thursday remanded three suspected members of an unlawful society called &#8216;IBILE&#8217;, Jemilu Adamu, Babatunde Gbenga and Jimoh Idris, for alleged murder.
