The Edo State Government has increased the minimum wage for workers in the state from N30,000 to N40,000.<\/p>\n

This was confirmed in a statement released on Tuesday by Governor Godwin Obaseki.<\/p>\n

Obaseki also announced the reduction of working days from five to three<\/a>, as residents continue to battle with the effect of the petrol subsidy removal.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a proactive government, we have since taken the step to increase the minimum wage paid to workers in Edo State from the approved N30,000 to N40,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope to increase it even further, if more allocation accrues to our state from the Federal Government in view of the expected savings from the removal of the fuel subsidy,\u201d the governor said.<\/p>\n

According to him, we know the hardship that has been caused by this policy which has increased the cost of transportation, eating deep into the wages of workers in the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
