Former Governorship aspirant and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Barrister Ken Imasuagbon, has quit the opposition party. <\/p>\n
The frontline Edo politician announced the resignation of his PDP membership in a letter on Wednesday. <\/p>\n
Imasuagbon became a household name in Edo State and beyond for his philanthropic gesture and humanitarian work.<\/p>\n
In the letter sent to the chairman of the party in the state, Tony Aziegbemi, and chairman of his local government, Esan South-east ward 2, Imasuagbon was, however, silent on his reasons for quitting the PDP.<\/p>\n
He thanked the entire body and leadership of the PDP, describing his experience within the party as memorable.<\/p>\n
The letter reads, \u201cSince 2009 in what was tagged the \u2018Ewohimi Declaration\u2019 where I had joined the PDP has remained a memorable journey for me and I want to thank God almighty for his benevolence.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe course of my political journey in the PDP had afforded me the opportunity to make great and wonderful friends and had shared great moments with which I will cherish for a lifetime.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, the reality of the moment has made it decisive that there comes a time in a man\u2019s life where he has to move ahead.<\/p>\n
\u201cConsequently, therefore I hereby tender my resignation of the membership of the People\u2019s Democratic Party, PDP. Once again, I thank the entire leadership and body of the PDP\u201d.<\/p>\n
Recall that Imansuangbon has been in the governorship race since 2007 having worked assiduously for the PDP and later the Grace Group, the PDP faction that thereafter metamorphosed into Action Congress, Action Congress of Nigeria, and later the All Progressives Congress.<\/p>\n
In 2020, Imasuagbon and some other aspirants stepped down for Governor Godwin Obaseki, when he switched to the PDP from the APC where he realized his second-term ambition. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
