{"id":273759,"date":"2023-06-12T18:27:59","date_gmt":"2023-06-12T17:27:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=273759"},"modified":"2023-06-12T18:30:18","modified_gmt":"2023-06-12T17:30:18","slug":"breaking-student-loan-bill-tinubu-to-establish-education-bank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/06\/12\/breaking-student-loan-bill-tinubu-to-establish-education-bank\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Loan Bill: Tinubu To Establish Education Bank"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is anticipated that an education bank will be established as a result of the Student Loan Bill, which President Bola Tinubu just signed into law.<\/p>\n<p>At the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday, President Tinubu signed the legislation.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that the national legislature approved the measure in November 2022, which aims to give loans with no interest to needy Nigerian students.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/06\/07\/im-leaving-office-with-hope-unbroken-enthusiasm-to-serve-gbajabiamila\/\">Former House of Representatives speaker Femi Gbajabiamila<\/a> served as the bill&#8217;s sponsor.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that, speaking at one of his campaigns, Tinubu had promised to give student loans as part of efforts to develop the education sector and also build the youth capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu made the promise at the British Royal Institute in London.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYouths are the greatest asset of tomorrow,\u201d Tinubu said in Chatham House while fielding questions from participants at the event, adding that they will be part of his \u201call-inclusive\u201d government, pointing to the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe education system is to change. We would overhaul it and tinker with some areas with the philosophy that no one would be left behind. There will be student loans for all.
