{"id":274229,"date":"2023-06-14T21:19:39","date_gmt":"2023-06-14T20:19:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=274229"},"modified":"2023-06-14T21:19:39","modified_gmt":"2023-06-14T20:19:39","slug":"dollar-video-ganduje-asks-court-to-stop-efcc-probe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/06\/14\/dollar-video-ganduje-asks-court-to-stop-efcc-probe\/","title":{"rendered":"Dollar video: Ganduje asks court to stop EFCC probe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has asked a High Court in Kano to restrain the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from probing him.<\/p>\n<p>Ganduje wants an order protecting him from EFCC\u2019s investigation of videos, which showed him allegedly receiving stacks of dollars from a contractor.<\/p>\n<p>The Kano House of Assembly, in response to outrage, constituted a committee to investigate the alleged bribery but yet to submit its report.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/06\/14\/gov-yusuf-demolishes-multi-million-naira-project-renovated-by-gandujes-administration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ganduje<\/a> wants the court to declare that the interrogation of the ex-State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Chairman and ex-Accountant General, in connection to the video, illegal.<\/p>\n<p>The former governor\u2019s suit, filed by the Attorney General in his administration, relied on Sections 1 (1) of the 1999 constitution.<\/p>\n<p>It stated that since the state lawmakers already probed the clips pursuant to its powers under section 128 of the 1999 constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Ganduje wants a declaration that there is a pending case (No: CV\/1598\/2021 between him) Jaafar Jafaar &amp; Anor, before a FCT High Court in which he is challenging the authenticity of the video.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe defendant cannot exercise its investigative powers under the sections 6, 7 and 13 of the EFCC (Establishment) Act 2004 (CFCC ACT), until after the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja (Coram: Hon. Justice Y.
