An Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Staff has been\u00a0 reportedly shot dead by unknown gun in Ebonyi state.<\/p>\n

Mr. Emmanuel Igwe was murdered along the Ivo Local Government Area axis of the State on Monday.<\/p>\n

It was gathered that Mr. Igwe, an Assistant Electoral Officer in Afikpo North LGA,<\/a> was waylaid and killed while on his way back from Abia State.<\/p>\n

WITHIN NIGERIA gathered that the victim\u2019s wife (names withheld) was equally kidnapped on the process.<\/p>\n

However, when contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO Ebonyi State Command, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya who revealed that the incident occurred on Sunday around mid-day, said the gunmen shot the victim through his car\u2019s windscreen.<\/p>\n

Explaining further, the police image maker stated that \u201cwe have began a manhunt for the assailants. We are hopeful that they will be apprehended. The victim was shot through the windscreen of his car \u201c<\/p>\n

Our reporter equally gathered that in recent times, the route linking Ivo axis of Ebonyi State through Okigwe has become a den for kidnappers masquerading as Fulani herdsmen.<\/p>\n

Like many other bushy roads in the country, motorists are usually not seen on that route as they have chosen an alternative route to Imo, Abia and Enugu States.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
