The Appeal Court, Abuja Division has ordered reinstatement of Ambassador Mohammed Dauda as the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).<\/p>\n
The presiding Judge, Justice Peter Ige gave the order in a judgement he delivered on Thursday, in an appeal filed by the NIA.<\/p>\n
The appellate court also awarded the sum of N1 million to the dismissed DG against the NIA.<\/p>\n
The judge held that Dauda should be allowed to retire in service as stipulated by laws with and settled all the contentious issues against NIA in favour of the respondent.<\/p>\n
Justice Ige held that, there is no proof before the court that shows that the respondent has constituted any risk or breached any law and further held that, \u201cThe appellant\u2019s appeal is hereby dismissed for lacking in merit and the Industrial Court judgment is hereby affirmed\u201d.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the National Industrial Court in Abuja had ordered the reinstatement of Mohammed Dauda as the head of the National Intelligence Agency and payment of salaries and entitlements from March 2018 till date, after it found that his dismissal fell short of the NIA Act.<\/p>\n
In the judgment delivered by Justice Olufunke Anuwe, it was held that, under the Agency\u2019s rule, the appropriate committee to investigate disciplinary cases against management staff is the management staff disciplinary committee, \u201cnot the special management staff disciplinary committee\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
