On Friday, a fire in Ilorin destroyed property worth N14.6 million.<\/p>\n

The event happened at No. 11 Gobir Compound, Awodi, Sobi Road, Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, about 7 o’clock.<\/p>\n

Hassan Adekunle, the state fire service’s spokesman, claimed that a power surge caused the fire, which destroyed a ten-flat structure on three floors.<\/p>\n

He claimed that the fire department quickly dispatched its firefighting squad<\/a> to the area after receiving Mrs. Abibat’s distress call.<\/p>\n

The firefighters arrived at the location, swiftly brought the fire under control and prevented it from spreading further.<\/p>\n

Five flats were affected, while other flats including many valuable properties were saved from the fire.<\/p>\n

Director of the state fire service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, urged the residents to always cultivate the habit of switching off their electrical appliances before bedtime, as this would help them to prevent the chances of fire outbreak in their various homes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
