The Labour Party has berated the President Ahmed Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration for its sheer opulence and flamboyance while Nigerians grapple with harsh economic realities. <\/p>\n
The Labour Party remark followed a viral video of Tinubu’s long convoy with a deluge of cacophonous sirens on his way to his Lagos residence after his return from London.<\/p>\n
Reacting to the development, Acting National Publicity Secretary of the party, Obiora Ifoh said Tinubu ostentatious display was early signs of him continuing \u201cthe wasteful lifestyle\u201d of his predecessor. <\/p>\n
Speaking in an interview with Vanguard, in Abuja, on Wednesday, he noted that it was ironical that Tinubu’s government would ask Nigerians to \u201ctighten their belts and make sacrifices\u201d while living in engaging in opulence.<\/p>\n
He, however, asks Nigerians to remain steadfast and optimistic as help is on the way. <\/p>\n
Ifoh said, \u201cit is unfortunate that this APC administration which is still struggling for legitimacy in court, has inflicted pain and suffering on Nigerians just under one month since assuming power albeit temporarily.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is an administration which has supervised increases in the pump price of petroleum products, electricity tariffs, vehicle registration among others, but has refused to cut the cost of governance.<\/p>\n
\u201cPresident Bola Tinubu just returned from his foreign business\/ private visit and was welcomed by a convey of over 100 vehicles fueled by tax payers money.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are certain a long list of taxes will soon follow to just to raise funds in order maintain the lifestyles of those in power to the detriment of ordinary Nigerians.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe administration\u2019s policies has so far revealed a desire of the ruling party to make life harder for ordinary Nigerians because more citizens will certainly fall below the poverty line as more and more jobs are being lost and businesses are going under as a result of rising cost of transportation and energy.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe implore Nigerians not to despair as help is on the way. We remain hopeful that there is light at the end of the tunnel and justice will prevail.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
