One Alhaji Mustapha Adamu, a title holder in the Zazzau Emirate Council, has been suspended for flogging an alleged homosexual in the ancient city of Zaria, in Kaduna State.<\/p>\n
Adamu, who’s the Marafan Yamman Zazzau, was suspended by the council on Tuesday for taking laws into his hands. <\/p>\n
His suspension was contained in statement issued by the Council\u2019s Information and Communications Officer, Abdullahi Aliyu. <\/p>\n
According to the statement, the indefinite suspension of the title holder was with immediate effect.<\/p>\n
Aliyu identified the victim of Adamu’s corporal punish as one Yusuf Yahaya (SABO) of Unguwan Magajiya Zaria City. <\/p>\n
The Marafan Yamman Zazza gave Yahaya sixty strokes of the cane.<\/p>\n
The statement warned that Zazzau Emirate would not condone any act that violated laws and orders from any traditional title holder in the community.<\/p>\n
It advised traditional title holders to always refer cases before them to the constituted authorities for proper adjudication rather than taking the laws into their hands.<\/p>\n
The emirate assured the general public that it won\u2019t take any act of injustice by traditional title holders against its subject lightly.<\/p>\n
Speaking to newsmen shortly after his suspension, Mustapha Adamu, who until his suspension, was the Ubaidullah Marafan Yamman Zazzau, said, he disciplined Yusuf Yahaya (SABO) with 60 lashes because he caught him having carnal knowledge with a \u201csmall boy\u201d behind his residence.<\/p>\n
He also expressed shock over the hurried decision taken against him by the Emirate council regarding the suspension.<\/p>\n
He added that he expected the emirate council to refer him to the constituted authority for violating the Laws rather than the suspension order slammed on him.<\/p>\n
He justified his action, noting that the culprit is \u201chis son\u201d and that he had the right to discipline him when he \u201cgoes wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n
