{"id":278446,"date":"2023-07-08T05:31:00","date_gmt":"2023-07-08T04:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=278446"},"modified":"2023-07-08T05:31:00","modified_gmt":"2023-07-08T04:31:00","slug":"two-killers-of-naval-officer-remanded-in-ondo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/07\/08\/two-killers-of-naval-officer-remanded-in-ondo\/","title":{"rendered":"Two killers of naval officer remanded in Ondo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two persons who are suspected to have a hand in the killing of a naval officer, Samson Akingbagbohun, have been remanded. <\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/07\/05\/police-nab-father-daughter-over-ondo-imams-kidnap\/\">Ondo State<\/a> Chief Magistrate Court, sitting in Akure, the state capital, ordered the remand of the duo on Friday. <\/p>\n<p>The suspects, who are identified as Ayomide Sambo Ayomide and Johnson Adeleke, were arrested by the police in the South West state. <\/p>\n<p>The defendants were arrested for allegedly killing the deceased officer in Ido Ani in the Ose Local Government Area of the state, following an argument.<\/p>\n<p>They were thereafter arraigned before the court on two count-charge bothering of conspiracy and murder.<\/p>\n<p>According to the prosecution, the offences, contravened Sections 319, 316, 342, the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of the Ondo State Nigeria 2006.<\/p>\n<p>However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges but their pleas were not taken by the court.<\/p>\n<p>The Prosecutor, Inspector Nelson Akintimehin, informed the court that the defendants and others at large committed the offences on June 26, 2023, at about 7:40 pm at Idoani in the Ondo State Magisterial District.<\/p>\n<p>He urged the court to remand the defendants in Olokuta Correctional Centre to enable him forward their case file to the Director of Public Prosecution but the defendants\u2019 counsel, Tolulope Adebiyi, prayed the court to grant her clients\u2019 bail.<\/p>\n<p>In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Musa Al-Yunus, said there were probable causes to remand the two suspects.
