{"id":279171,"date":"2023-07-12T08:37:19","date_gmt":"2023-07-12T07:37:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=279171"},"modified":"2023-07-12T08:37:19","modified_gmt":"2023-07-12T07:37:19","slug":"i-shiver-when-lecturers-brag-about-rigging-elections-abu-vc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/07\/12\/i-shiver-when-lecturers-brag-about-rigging-elections-abu-vc\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;I Shiver When Lecturers Brag About Rigging Elections&#8217; \u2014 ABU VC"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Prof. Kabiru Bala, VC of ABU Zaria, has expressed concern about the conduct of some academics involved in electoral assignments<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>He believes that more university lecturers should be involved in electoral duties to strengthen Nigeria&#8217;s sustainable elections<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>He has heard some academics brag about assisting politicians in rigging elections, which makes him shiver<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Prof Kabiru Bala, Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, has expressed concern about the conduct of some academics involved in electoral assignments.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that, despite the actions of a few academics who brag about assisting politicians in rigging elections, more university lecturers should be involved in electoral duties to strengthen Nigeria&#8217;s sustainable elections.<\/p>\n<p>Prof Bala delivered a keynote address yesterday in Zaria, Kaduna State, at the third International Conference organised by ABU&#8217;s Department of Political Science and International Studies in collaboration with Mambayya House and the Aminu Kano Centre for Democratic Studies at Bayero University Kano.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The VC said;<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Academics are a set of people that you can have confidence and trust in.
