{"id":28020,"date":"2021-04-30T15:48:28","date_gmt":"2021-04-30T14:48:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=28020"},"modified":"2021-04-30T15:48:28","modified_gmt":"2021-04-30T14:48:28","slug":"nnpc-we-are-not-broke","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/30\/nnpc-we-are-not-broke\/","title":{"rendered":"NNPC: We are not broke"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has stated that the zero revenue projection for May pertains only to the federation revenue stream it manages and not a reflection of its overall financial performance.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed in a statement on Friday by the group general manager of NNPC public affairs division, Kennie Obateru.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe shortfall will be remedied by the corporation as it relates only to the Federation revenue stream being managed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/23\/president-buhari-restores-ownership-of-oml-123-others-to-nnpc\/\">NNPC<\/a> and does not reflect the overall financial performance of the Corporation,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe NNPC remains in positive financial trajectory for the period in question.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The corporation, in a letter to the accountant-general of the federation, had disclosed that its projected monthly remittance to the federation accounts allocation\u00a0committee (FAAC) for May will be zero.<\/p>\n<p>In the letter to the accountant-general, NNPC said N111.96 billion will be deducted from April 2021 oil and gas proceeds \u2014 due to the federation in May \u2014 noting that the deduction is necessary to ensure the continuous supply of petroleum products to the nation and guarantee energy security.<\/p>\n<p>The corporation noted that the letter has fueled reports insinuating that it was in financial straits as well as claims of impending revenue shortfalls with dire consequences for the various tiers of government.<\/p>\n<p>According to Obateru, the clarification became necessary to assure citizens that the NNPC remains conscious of its role and was doing everything possible to shore up revenues and support the federation at all times.<\/p>\n<p>The NNPC pledged to continue to pursue and observe its cost optimization process with a view to maximizing remittances to the federation account.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has stated that the zero revenue projection for May pertains only to the federation revenue stream it manages and not a reflection of its overall financial performance.
