The main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party has requested the Department of State Services (DSS) to interrogate minister of Niger Delta affairs, Godswill Akpabio over his comment on Nigeria’s security woes.<\/p>\n

Recall that on Thursday, Akpabio<\/a><\/strong> while speaking in Abuja had stated that\u00a0the insecurity the country is battling with is \u201cpolitically motivated.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think most of the problems are politically motivated, so we must use our binoculars to be able to look and identify the sponsors of the insecurity we are witnessing in the country,\u201d the minister had said.<\/p>\n

The PDP, however, described the comment by Akpabio \u2014 who left the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2018 \u2014 as \u201cself-professed evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement issued on Friday, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party\u2019s spokesman, said the minister is privy to \u201ccertain terrorism-related information\u201d that Nigerians are not aware of and which must be disclosed to the DSS.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe PDP charges the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to immediately invite the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, to name politicians in the APC that are behind the acts of terrorism and banditry<\/a> ravaging our nation,\u201d Ologbondiyan said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe PDP stressed that there is self-professed evidence that Senator Akpabio is privy to certain terrorism-related information which he must be made to share with the DSS as well as other security agencies.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur party\u2019s position is predicated on comments made by Senator Akpabio at the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Thursday that the acts of terrorism in our country are \u2018politically motivated\u2019 and that they are the handiwork of infiltrators from neigbouring countries.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNow that Senator Akpabio has shown that he has certain information regarding the spur for escalated acts of terrorism in our country, our party urges the DSS and other security agencies to immediately invite him for questioning so as to expose the politicians in his party that are behind the ugly situation in our country.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
