{"id":282819,"date":"2023-08-09T06:30:18","date_gmt":"2023-08-09T05:30:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=282819"},"modified":"2023-08-09T06:30:18","modified_gmt":"2023-08-09T05:30:18","slug":"hiring-external-auditors-not-move-to-probe-adamu-apc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/08\/09\/hiring-external-auditors-not-move-to-probe-adamu-apc\/","title":{"rendered":"Hiring External Auditors Not Move To Probe Adamu \u2014 APC"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>APC clarifies hiring external auditors not linked to investigating Senator Abdullahi Adamu&#8217;s resignation, cites routine practice<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Party emphasizes transparency, tradition in appointing auditors, assures ongoing consultations for vacant NWC positions<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that its decision to hire external <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/11\/03\/buharis-ministers-others-sabotaging-anti-corruption-war-reps\/\">auditors<\/a> to audit the party&#8217;s accounts is not a move to investigate Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who recently resigned as the party&#8217;s national chairman.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Abubakar Kyari, speaking in acting capacity at the party&#8217;s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting last week Thursday in Abuja, said the party was planning to hire external auditors to audit the party&#8217;s accounts.<\/p>\n<p>Following this, reports surfaced that the party planned to investigate Adamu over financial allegations.<\/p>\n<p>But, speaking to reporters at the end of their National Working Committee (NWC) meeting on Tuesday in Abuja, presided over by the party&#8217;s National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the APC National Secretary, Ajibola Bashiru, said the move was not to investigate Adamu, explaining that it was the APC&#8217;s tradition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>He said;<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>What I think is good to say is that we should not misrepresent the reasons for the resignation of our chairman.<\/p>\n<p>On the issue of external auditors, it has been the routine of our party to appoint external auditors and it is a standard procedure and practice everywhere.<\/p>\n<p>It has nothing to do with the resignation of any officer of our party. And if you go back, there has not been a year that the party\u2019s account has not been audited by external auditors.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Regarding filling the remaining vacant positions in the NWC, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Felix Morka, stated, &#8220;As you can imagine, we just held our NEC a few days ago, and consultations are ongoing at the moment.&#8221; I believe
