{"id":283570,"date":"2023-08-14T11:05:22","date_gmt":"2023-08-14T10:05:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=283570"},"modified":"2023-08-14T11:05:22","modified_gmt":"2023-08-14T10:05:22","slug":"amusan-not-cleared-to-take-part-in-world-athletics-championships-athletics-body","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/08\/14\/amusan-not-cleared-to-take-part-in-world-athletics-championships-athletics-body\/","title":{"rendered":"Amusan not cleared to take part in World Athletics Championships \u2013 Athletics body"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Rumors of Amusan&#8217;s clearance contradicted by World Athletics<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Decision on Amusan&#8217;s participation yet to be announced<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><strong>AIU to decide on Amusan&#8217;s eligibility before Championships start<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The World Athletics organization has refuted claims that Tobi Amusan, Nigeria&#8217;s prominent track athlete, has received approval to compete in the upcoming 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.<\/p>\n<p>Amusan&#8217;s eligibility was questioned due to an ongoing doping investigation by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), leading the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) to exclude her name from the competition.<\/p>\n<p>Although recent rumors suggested that the 26-year-old had been given the green light to participate, the World Athletics body has swiftly contradicted these reports.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Please be advised, reports that say Tobi Amusan has been cleared to compete in Budapest are wrong,\u201d Nicole Jeffery, World Athletics\u2019 Head of Communications said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo decision has been made in this case yet.
