{"id":283798,"date":"2023-08-15T18:08:13","date_gmt":"2023-08-15T17:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=283798"},"modified":"2023-08-15T18:08:13","modified_gmt":"2023-08-15T17:08:13","slug":"subsidy-removal-gombe-govt-distributes-palliatives-to-30000-beneficiaries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/08\/15\/subsidy-removal-gombe-govt-distributes-palliatives-to-30000-beneficiaries\/","title":{"rendered":"Subsidy Removal: Gombe govt. distributes palliatives to 30,000 beneficiaries"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The relief items mark the initial stage of the distribution process.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The state government&#8217;s objective is to support over 420,000 beneficiaries across the entire state<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><strong>The ongoing launch focuses on the first phase, assisting 30,000 beneficiaries<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Gombe state government has initiated the distribution of relief packages to aid 30,000 beneficiaries in mitigating the impact of the petrol subsidy removal on the state&#8217;s residents.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Inuwa Yahaya announced this during the launch of the distribution event on Tuesday in Dadin Kowa community, located in the Yamaltu\/Deba Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n<p>The governor emphasized that these items constitute the initial stage of the relief distribution process.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Yahaya disclosed that the state government&#8217;s objective is to support over 420,000 beneficiaries throughout the entire state.<\/p>\n<p>He clarified that the ongoing launch focuses on the first phase, aimed at assisting 30,000 beneficiaries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe palliative distribution is expected to target 420,000 beneficiaries across the state,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said each of the 30,000 beneficiaries would receive one bag of 5kg rice, one carton of spaghetti, two bags of fertilisers, and two litres of pesticide.<\/p>\n<p>According to the governor, the inclusion of agricultural inputs is strategic, considering that 80 per cent of Gombe residents are engaged in agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the support was to ensure a bountiful harvest, guarantee rural livelihoods, and promote food security, especially in the upcoming dry season.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Yahaya said it was a necessary step taken toward the long-term economic stability and development of the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s event demonstrates the state government\u2019s commitment to supporting the people through trying times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we face these economic challenges, we are with you; the government is fully aware of the situation that individuals and households are going through across the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, we are taking a concrete step in order to show responsibility and ensure that no one is left behind during this trying time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Yahaya urged the committee in charge of the distribution to carry out their duty with the fear of God and dedication to duty.<\/p>\n<p>Haruna Abdullahi, the executive secretary of Gombe state emergency management agency, commended the state government and assured that the palliatives would reach the targeted persons.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Abdullahi, who is also the chairman of the committee in charge of the distribution of the palliatives, urged beneficiaries to use the items judiciously and not sell the agriculture inputs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The relief items mark the initial stage of the distribution process.
