{"id":284803,"date":"2023-08-21T18:42:06","date_gmt":"2023-08-21T17:42:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=284803"},"modified":"2023-08-21T18:44:11","modified_gmt":"2023-08-21T17:44:11","slug":"nigerian-navy-built-three-warships-barges-in-11-years-official","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/08\/21\/nigerian-navy-built-three-warships-barges-in-11-years-official\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigerian Navy built three warships, barges in 11 years: Official"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The projects were carried out by the Nigerian Naval Dockyard Limited between 2012 and 2023<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><strong>Warships named NNS Andoni, NNS Karaduwa, and NNS Odia were built alongside other vessels and infrastructure<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to the Nigerian Naval Dockyard Limited, they have successfully constructed three warships, one fuel barge, one water barge, one houseboat, and six agricultural boats over a span of 11 years.<\/p>\n<p>Rear Admiral Bolaji Orederu, the admiral superintendent of the dockyard, revealed that these vessels were built between 2012 and 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The warships, namely NNS Andoni, NNS Karaduwa, and NNS Odia, were accompanied by other vessels, barges, and related infrastructure. Additionally, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), has authorized the commencement of constructing two sets of ships for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/08\/17\/nigerian-army-say-it-arrested-notorious-kidnapper-in-plateau-fake-soldier-extorting-residents-in-taraba\/\">Nigerian Navy<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe build ships, barges, boats, and offshore structures and also partner with other maritime players to do some construction and fabrication.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll our vision, mission and ideas are derived from the direction of the CNS to reposition the navy to greater heights to attain our constitutional roles,\u201d the admiral superintendent said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Orederu said the naval dockyard recently built six agricultural boats with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.<\/p>\n<p>He said the boats were mini patrol boats powered by outboard engines and easy to maintain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have outboard engineers spread all over the country in abundance, so maintenance of these boats will be easy,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Orederu called for more federal establishments and private organisations\u2019 collaboration with the navy to build more vessels and infrastructure for developing communities and the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have naval bases, naval establishments, forward operations bases in all the coastal states, and all these departments have maintenance units.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, the
