{"id":28536,"date":"2021-05-01T21:37:34","date_gmt":"2021-05-01T20:37:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=28536"},"modified":"2021-05-01T21:37:34","modified_gmt":"2021-05-01T20:37:34","slug":"access-bank-staff-osunjuyigbe-arrested-for-alleged-diversion-of-n34m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/05\/01\/access-bank-staff-osunjuyigbe-arrested-for-alleged-diversion-of-n34m\/","title":{"rendered":"Access Bank staff, Osunjuyigbe arrested for alleged diversion of N34m"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A staff of Access Bank PLC, Elizabeth Modupe Osunjuyigbe has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly diverting over N34 million.<\/p>\n<p>She was arrested by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.republicanng.com\/efcc-arrest-bitcoin-vendor-four-others-in-ibadan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EFCC<\/a> on Friday, April 30, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>A statement issued by EFCC\u2019s spokesman, Wilson Iwujaren, said the Lagos Zonal Office of the commission made the arrest.<\/p>\n<p>The EFCC said the suspect allegedly sent a fraudulent request sometime in January to the Branch Service Manager of Access Bank, Adeola Odeku, Lagos State, to issue a draft of the sum of N31, 330, 165. 00 in favour of one Best Timland Nigeria Limited.<\/p>\n<p>The commission said investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly forged a solicitor\u2019s letter dated January 19, 2021 directing the bank to issue the draft in favour of Best Timland.<\/p>\n<p>The statement said she claimed that the request was for the payment of rent to the landlord of one of the bank\u2019s branches in Akwa-Ibom State.<\/p>\n<p>The EFCC said the suspect would soon be charged to court.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A staff of Access Bank PLC, Elizabeth Modupe Osunjuyigbe has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly diverting over N34 million.
