{"id":286906,"date":"2023-09-02T12:35:18","date_gmt":"2023-09-02T11:35:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=286906"},"modified":"2023-09-02T12:35:18","modified_gmt":"2023-09-02T11:35:18","slug":"kogi-resident-doctors-to-embark-on-indefinite-strike-as-21-day-ultimatum-expires","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/09\/02\/kogi-resident-doctors-to-embark-on-indefinite-strike-as-21-day-ultimatum-expires\/","title":{"rendered":"Kogi: Resident doctors to embark on indefinite strike as 21-day ultimatum expires"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>ARD will convoke a Congress meeting 7 days<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), Kogi State Specialist Hospital (KSSH) Lokoja, has called the attention of the Kogi State Government to the expiration of the 21-day ultimatum to resolve its demands.<\/p>\n<p>Recalled that the association had, on August 9, issued 21 21-day ultimatum to Kogi Government to resolve its demands or be ready for indefinite strike action after suspending its 2-day industrial action directed by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD).<\/p>\n<p>The ultimatum was to give room for dialogue and engagement with the state government.<\/p>\n<p>The notification was given in a statement jointly signed by the ARD KSSH\u2019s President, Dr Ameh Friday, and Secretary General, Dr Peter Samuel, and made available to journalists on Saturday in Lokoja.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ARD KSSH, wishes to state that today, makes it 21 days since her last communique and one month since she suspended her industrial action as directed by the National Body \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/08\/07\/why-nigerian-doctors-migrate-to-african-country-nard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NARD<\/a> for government to look into the aforementioned pressing demands as listed below.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving examined the inertia that has greeted our requests also keeping in view our previous failure to join the national directive to suspend service delivery because of our commitment to the client and State Government which unfortunately has never been appreciated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will like to remind government of our modest demands once more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpward review of CONMESS 2014 to CONMESS 2023, and approval of Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReview of hazard allowance as released by the National Salary, Income and Wages Commission, 22nd December,2021, and implementation and cash backing of promotion as well as the statutory Annual Increments with payment of arrears of both annual increments and promotion,\u201d It said.<\/p>\n<p>The association stressed that the statement would serve as a reminder of the association\u2019s initial communique.<\/p>\n<p>The Association emphasised that the moral and psychic of her members in the Kogi State Specialist Hospital is at an all time low with respect to their concerns, unfortunately, the Hospital working environment coupled with the unpalatable economic realities have further worsen the already sour situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ARD will convoke a Congress meeting 7 days from now to have an appraisal of the progress made so far and take a decision on all the aforementioned demands,\u201d the association said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ARD will convoke a Congress meeting 7 days The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), Kogi State Specialist Hospital (KSSH) Lokoja, has called the attention of the Kogi State Government to the expiration of the 21-day ultimatum to resolve its demands.
