{"id":287629,"date":"2023-09-07T07:14:20","date_gmt":"2023-09-07T06:14:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=287629"},"modified":"2023-09-07T07:14:20","modified_gmt":"2023-09-07T06:14:20","slug":"account-for-13-oil-derivation-fund-accord-candidate-tells-kogi-apc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/09\/07\/account-for-13-oil-derivation-fund-accord-candidate-tells-kogi-apc\/","title":{"rendered":"Account For 13% Oil Derivation Fund, Accord Candidate Tells Kogi APC"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Kogi&#8217;s Accord gubernatorial candidate, Jibrin Usman, demands transparency and accountability from the APC-led government regarding 13 percent derivation funds<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Usman emphasizes the importance of informing citizens about fund allocation and utilization to address critical concerns in Kogi State<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Vice Admiral Jibrin Usman (Rtd), the Accord candidate in the upcoming Kogi gubernatorial election, has asked the state government&#8217;s All Progressives Congress (APC) to provide a detailed account of how it used the 13 percent derivation funds received from the federal government in the last eight months.<\/p>\n<p>Citizens, according to the former Navy chief, have the right to be informed about their elected leaders&#8217; stewardship to ensure transparency and good governance.<\/p>\n<p>Usman&#8217;s campaign council said in a statement signed by its youth spokesperson, Comrade Samuel A Danjuma, that &#8220;the call for transparency and accountability underscores the importance of informing the people of Kogi State about the use of these funds, which are intended for the state&#8217;s development.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He added that a comprehensive report on fund allocation and utilization under Governor Yahaya Bello&#8217;s leadership is required, especially given recent flooding challenges in the state&#8217;s oil-producing region, &#8220;underscoring the urgency of addressing local issues through social infrastructure and youth empowerment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>According to the statement;<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This call for accountability aligns with Accord&#8217;s vision of using public funds judiciously to address critical concerns like infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and job creation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Their mission is to create a brighter future for Kogi State,&#8221; Danjuma added, emphasizing the importance of holding leaders accountable.<\/p>\n<p>Jibrin and Accord remain dedicated to their vision of bringing positive change and progress to Kogi State, guided by principles of transparency, inclusivity, and genuine empowerment of the state&#8217;s residents, <strong>he said.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3 class=\"jeg_post_title\">Tribunal sacks APC Kogi APC senator, orders withdrawal of COR<\/h3>\n<div class=\"jeg_meta_container\">\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/09\/06\/tribunal-sacks-apc-kogi-apc-senator-orders-withdrawal-of-cor\/\">Kogi East Senatorial Election<\/a> Tribunal in Lokoja has sacked Senator Jibrin Isah, (Echocho).<\/p>\n<p>This is because the tribunal cancelled the election in 94 polling units in the district.<\/p>\n<p>Isah is the Senate Committee Chairman on Customs Excise and Tariffs.<\/p>\n<p>Consequently, the chairman of the Tribunal, Justice K.A. Orjiako, ordered<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/09\/05\/inec-resumes-distribution-of-uncollected-pvcs-in-kogi-imo-bayelsa\/\">\u00a0Independent National Electoral
