{"id":287652,"date":"2023-09-07T13:00:52","date_gmt":"2023-09-07T12:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=287652"},"modified":"2023-09-07T13:00:52","modified_gmt":"2023-09-07T12:00:52","slug":"suspended-osun-poly-rector-odetayo-resumes-after-court-ruling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/09\/07\/suspended-osun-poly-rector-odetayo-resumes-after-court-ruling\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspended Osun Poly Rector, Odetayo resumes after court ruling"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>Odetayo\u2019s resumption is a result of the decision of the National Industrial Court, Ibadan Division, reinstating him as Rector<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The suspended Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Dr Tajudeen Odetayo, returned to office on Thursday, WITHIN NIGERIA learnt.<\/p>\n<p>It would be recalled that the suspension was made known by the state government in a letter signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Kehinde Jimoh, on Monday, July 24.<\/p>\n<p>Odetayo was suspended for gross misappropriation of funds and abuse of office.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, Kehinde Alabi, a lecturer in the institution, was appointed as Acting Rector in his place.<\/p>\n<p>In reaction, the local chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, suspended academic activities citing that Alabi, who was appointed in an acting capacity did not qualify for the position.<\/p>\n<p>The students of the Institution also protested, demanding a resumption of academic activities.<\/p>\n<p>Confirming the resuming of Odetayo, the Osun Poly ASUP Chairman, Dr Ezekiel Alabi, said Odetayo\u2019s resumption is a result of the decision of the National Industrial Court, Ibadan Division, reinstating him as Rector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast week Friday, there was a court pronouncement reinstating Dr Tajudeen Odetayo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know Friday is the last working day of the week by Monday all the 15 parities to the suit were duly served. You know there was national strike on Tuesday and Wednesday. So today, he has resumed back to the office,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Alabi commended the state governor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/09\/06\/gov-adeleke-appoints-popular-offa-warlord-as-special-assistant-on-internal-security\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ademola Adeleke<\/a>, for obeying the court pronouncement.<\/p>\n<p>He also hoped that the state government would obey the rule of law and appear for the notice of hearing that would be held on October 10, 2023.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Odetayo\u2019s resumption is a result of the decision of the National Industrial Court, Ibadan Division, reinstating him as Rector The suspended Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Dr Tajudeen Odetayo, returned to office on Thursday, WITHIN NIGERIA learnt.
