{"id":288211,"date":"2023-09-11T06:54:34","date_gmt":"2023-09-11T05:54:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=288211"},"modified":"2023-09-11T06:54:34","modified_gmt":"2023-09-11T05:54:34","slug":"tribunal-sacks-another-nnpp-rep-in-kano","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/09\/11\/tribunal-sacks-another-nnpp-rep-in-kano\/","title":{"rendered":"Tribunal Sacks Another NNPP Rep In Kano"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The Kano Election Petition Tribunal overturns NNPP representative&#8217;s election, citing failure to resign from the university 30 days before the election<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>INEC directed to revoke the certificate of return and declare APC&#8217;s Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso the election winner<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Kano Election Petition Tribunal has overturned the election of the House of Representatives member representing Kura\/ Madobi\/Garun Malam.<\/p>\n<p>The tribunal based the dismissal of the New Nigeria People&#8217;s Party (NNPP) representative on his failure to resign from Bayero University, Kano 30 days before the election.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, Justice Ngozi Azinge directed the Independent National Electoral Commission to revoke Datti&#8217;s certificate of return and declare Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso of the All Progressives Congress the election winner.<\/p>\n<p>Kwankwaso received the second most votes in the Kura\/ Madobi\/Garun Malam Federal House of Representatives election on February 25, 2023.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"jeg_post_title\">Former NNPP national chairman dumps party<\/h3>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/09\/05\/former-nnpp-national-chairman-dumps-party\/\">ongoing crisis within the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)<\/a> has taken a new turn with the departure of the former National Chairman of the party, Professor Rufa\u2019i Ahmed Alkali. Alkali has chosen to exit the party, citing recent internal strife characterized by factions at odds with each other as deeply regrettable and counterproductive.<\/p>\n<p>In his statement, Alkali expressed the necessity of resigning from the party due to the escalating crises and conflicts in which the NNPP has been embroiled. These issues have resulted in numerous suspensions and counter-suspensions of key party leaders, bitter public disputes, mutual allegations, and a regrettable party factionalization.<\/p>\n<p>Alkali, who previously served as the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), revealed that his decision to leave the NNPP was prompted by the saddening state of affairs, particularly the seemingly unending internal discord. He lamented that it appeared as though an unspoken agreement existed among the warring factions to prevent party elders from mediating and resolving the crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, Alkali had, in a statement, resigned as the National Chairman of the NNPP in March of this year, and after six months, he has formally parted ways with the
