operatives in offenders&#8217; vehicles during impoundment<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><b>The corps marshal&#8217;s directive was a correction to an earlier statement that prohibited vehicle impoundment under paragraph III of the memo<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, has disregarded the dissemination of a letter that was &#8220;wrongly couched&#8221; about an order given to Commanding Officers.<\/p>\n<p>This was said in a statement made on Thursday in Abuja by Mr. Bisi Kazeem, the FRSC&#8217;s spokesperson.<\/p>\n<p>According to Kazeem, the memo in question refers to an order given to commanding officers that demanded a stop to the practise of placing patrol agents in offenders&#8217; cars while they were impounded.<\/p>\n<p>He however, said that the original directive was issued in a memo dated Sept. 12 2023, with reference FRSC\/HQ\/OPS\/94\/VOLXVI\/094.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the memo was titled \u2018Immediate ban on the placing of staff in offenders vehicles to escort for Impoundment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was however, interpreted as a complete ban on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/08\/07\/gov-mbah-bans-vehicles-with-tinted-glass-in-enugu\/\">impoundment of vehicles by the corps.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the avoidance of doubt, the corps marshal\u2019s directive was a correction of an earlier one saying impoundment of vehicles have been banned captured under paragraph III of the aforementioned memo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, the corps marshal only banned placing of staff in offenders vehicles to escort for impoundment by patrol teams under any guise of traffic infraction committed with immediate effect.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe corps regrets any confusion caused by the earlier memo, and would like to inform the public that the current position of the corps was as outlined in the corrected directive, \u201d he
