{"id":288963,"date":"2023-09-15T11:29:04","date_gmt":"2023-09-15T10:29:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=288963"},"modified":"2023-09-15T11:29:04","modified_gmt":"2023-09-15T10:29:04","slug":"national-grid-successfully-restored-federal-govt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/09\/15\/national-grid-successfully-restored-federal-govt\/","title":{"rendered":"National grid successfully restored \u2014 Federal Govt"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Says normal power supply has been reinstated across the affected areas<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><strong>Ongoing projects are actively working to improve, strengthen, and expand the grid infrastructure<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The federal government has announced the successful restoration of the collapsed national electricity transmission grid across the country.<\/p>\n<p>Nigeria\u2019s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, announced the restoration in a series of tweets on his X handle (formerly Twitter) on Thursday evening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am delighted to announce the successful restoration of the national <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/09\/14\/grid-collapse-restoration-is-at-advanced-stages-tcn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">electricity transmission grid<\/a>, thanks to the diligent efforts of our skilled engineers,\u201d Adelabu said.<\/p>\n<p>He said normal power supply has been reinstated across the affected areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will maintain our round-the-clock efforts to address the root causes of the disruption and proactively resolve underlying issues, ensuring the smooth operation of the electricity grid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe understand the inconveniences caused by the recent power outage and sincerely apologize for any disruptions you may have encountered during this period.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour patience and understanding have been greatly appreciated during the restoration process,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister said the current state, strength, and capacity of the national grid may not be at the desired level, ongoing projects are actively working to improve, strengthen, and expand the grid infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew initiatives are also in progress. We are dedicated to taking all necessary measures to ensure grid stability and reliability, closely monitoring the situation to prevent future disruptions.<br \/>\n\u201cOur commitment to delivering an enhanced power supply in the country remains unwavering. Thank you for your support,\u201d the minister said.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that the national grid system collapsed on Thursday morning throwing the whole country into total darkness.<\/p>\n<p>The system is operated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) from Osogbo, Osun State.<\/p>\n<p>The federal government said the collapse of the grid was caused by a fire outbreak on Kainji\/Jebba 330kV line, leading to about 356.63MW generation loss.<\/p>\n<p>The latest collapse is coming weeks after the TCN announced that the country\u2019s power grid had maintained uninterrupted stability for over 400 consecutive days.<\/p>\n<p>The TCN had in August said the Nigerian power grid has recorded an unparalleled period of stability in the history of the power sector, operating without any major disruptions or systems collapse for a span of 400 consecutive days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis milestone signifies a remarkable advancement in the nation\u2019s efforts at strengthening its power infrastructure and ensuring a reliable and dependable electricity supply to distribution load centres for onward distribution to electricity customers nationwide,\u201d the company said in a statement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Says normal power supply has been reinstated across the affected areas Ongoing projects are actively working to improve, strengthen, and expand the grid infrastructure The federal government has announced the successful restoration of the collapsed national electricity transmission grid across the country.
