{"id":289192,"date":"2023-09-16T12:30:42","date_gmt":"2023-09-16T11:30:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=289192"},"modified":"2023-09-16T19:13:25","modified_gmt":"2023-09-16T18:13:25","slug":"24-year-old-labourer-remanded-for-allegedly-beheading-farmer-in-ondo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/09\/16\/24-year-old-labourer-remanded-for-allegedly-beheading-farmer-in-ondo\/","title":{"rendered":"24-year-old labourer remanded for allegedly beheading farmer in Ondo"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Clement was said to have committed the crime on September 4, 2023<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><strong>Chief Magistrate Folasade Aduroja did not accept Clement\u2019s plea for want of jurisdiction<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>An Akure Chief Magistrate Court has remanded a 24-year-old labourer, Sunday Clement, in Olokuta Correctional Centre for allegedly killing a 30-year-old farmer, Taye Alatoye.<\/p>\n<p>Clement was said to have committed the crime on September 4, 2023, around 2:30 pm at Baba Odun Camp, Ofosu in the Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n<p>Clement, who confessed to be under the influence of hard drugs, allegedly attacked Alatoye while on their way to the farm.<\/p>\n<p>Following the killing, police operatives apprehended Clement, who was charged with one count of murder.<\/p>\n<p>The police prosecutor, Mary Adebayo, informed the court that the defendant\u2019s actions are in violation of Sections 316 and 319 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 37 Vol. II Law of Ondo State, 2006.<\/p>\n<p>During the remand application, Adebayo implored the court to detain the defendant at the Olokuta Correctional Centre pending the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant, expressing remorse, informed the court that on the day of the incident, he had consumed a substance called crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as \u2018ice,\u2019 before heading to the farm.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Magistrate Folasade Aduroja did not accept Clement\u2019s plea for want of jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<p>Granting the prosecutor\u2019s request, Aduroja ordered the remand of the defendant in the custodial centre and also directed that the case file be duplicated and sent to the DPP for advice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Clement was said to have committed the crime on September 4, 2023 Chief Magistrate Folasade Aduroja did not accept Clement\u2019s plea for want of jurisdiction An Akure Chief Magistrate Court has remanded a 24-year-old labourer, Sunday Clement, in Olokuta Correctional Centre for allegedly killing a 30-year-old farmer, Taye Alatoye.
