{"id":289551,"date":"2023-09-19T07:47:42","date_gmt":"2023-09-19T06:47:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=289551"},"modified":"2023-09-19T07:47:42","modified_gmt":"2023-09-19T06:47:42","slug":"subsidy-fg-has-not-fulfilled-promises-on-cng-buses-cash-transfers-others-nlc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/09\/19\/subsidy-fg-has-not-fulfilled-promises-on-cng-buses-cash-transfers-others-nlc\/","title":{"rendered":"Subsidy: FG Has Not Fulfilled Promises On CNG Buses, Cash Transfers, Others \u2013 NLC"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Officials of the NLC met with the representatives of the Federal Government on Monday to avert an indefinite strike in the country<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>However, the meeting ended the deadlock<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) says the federal government has not fulfilled its promises made to amelioration the suffering and economic pains caused by the removal of fuel subsidies.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/09\/18\/we-have-lost-faith-in-the-labour-union-nigerian-builders\/\">Labour<\/a><\/strong> expressed frustration over a palpable indifference on the part of the Federal Government to meet its demands.<\/p>\n<p>Officials of the NLC met with the representatives of the Federal Government on Monday to avert an indefinite strike in the country.<\/p>\n<p>However, the meeting ended in a deadlock.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television\u2019s Politics Today, NLC President Joe Ajaero said the government has not met any of the body&#8217;s demands.<\/p>\n<p>Among its demands are to address the consequences of petrol price hikes, review the minimum wage, provide a workable roadmap to the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) alternative, fix the country\u2019s refineries, and pay lecturers\u2019 salary arrears.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have not made any efforts on any issue,\u201d Ajaero asserted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven the issue as simple as cash transfer or bringing buses on the road, nothing has happened to them. So, it\u2019s a lack of willingness and we can\u2019t muddle up all these issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen you call a minimum wage as wage award. If anybody is looking at the issue of wage award as minimum wage, then there\u2019s confusion within that class of people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>READ ALSO: NLC Tackles TUC For \u2018Backing Out Of A Strike They Didn\u2019t Call\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Citing a 2021 agreement on CNG vehicles reached with the then Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, the labour leader argued it was clear that a million vehicles could be converted within three months.<\/p>\n<p>Ajaero decried the Federal Government\u2019s 2024 projection to deploy CNG buses for a more affordable mass transit system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf anybody is telling you that until next year, nothing could be done, I\u2019m telling you that the person is not telling us the truth,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is so peculiar about next year when these processes will start? Is it that there are no CNG vehicles that can onto the road, or we can\u2019t have some stations, even with IPMAN saying that their filling stations are
