{"id":290164,"date":"2023-09-22T20:52:49","date_gmt":"2023-09-22T19:52:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=290164"},"modified":"2023-09-22T20:52:49","modified_gmt":"2023-09-22T19:52:49","slug":"falana-asks-police-to-investigate-death-of-lagos-boy-with-missing-intestine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/09\/22\/falana-asks-police-to-investigate-death-of-lagos-boy-with-missing-intestine\/","title":{"rendered":"Falana Asks Police To Investigate Death Of Lagos Boy With Missing Intestine"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Adebola passed away at LASUTH two days ago, despite efforts by doctors and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to save his life<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><b>The Falana and Falana&#8217;s Chambers have requested the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to investigate the underlying mystery<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Femi Falana, a human rights attorney, has demanded a probe into how Adebola Akin-Bright, a boy whose intestine was allegedly removed at a hospital in Lagos State, died.<\/p>\n<p>When the 13-year-old boy&#8217;s intestines were removed during surgery at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), his mother, Mrs. Deborah Abiodun, yelled out in pain.<\/p>\n<p>However, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/09\/02\/lasuth-denies-involvement-in-boys-missing-intestines\/\">LASUTH management<\/a> has now refuted the claim, claiming that while doing corrective surgery on the adolescent who had previously undergone surgery at a private hospital in Lagos, it did not remove any organ from his body.<\/p>\n<p>Adebola died two days ago at LASUTH, despite efforts by doctors and the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to save his life.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter on Friday, the Falana and Falana\u2019s Chambers requested the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to unravel the mystery behind the matter.<\/p>\n<p>According to the letter signed by Barr. Taiwo Olawanle and made available to newsmen, Falana\u2019s Chamber said their attention was drawn to the boy\u2019s death, stating that they are a firm of legal practitioners committed to the defence of human rights.<\/p>\n<p>The letter reads: \u201cOur attention has just been drawn to the untimely but avoidable death of Master Adebola Akin-Bright, who developed complications arising from a surgery conducted on him at a private hospital in Lagos a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou would recall that the mother of the deceased boy, Mrs Deborah Abiodun, had on September 1, 2023, alleged the disappearance of her child\u2019s small intestine during his treatment at the said private hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving regard to the circumstances surrounding this avoidable death, we are compelled to humbly request that you invoke your power as enshrined under the Police Act to investigate and unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of this young, promising
