The Defence Headquarters has reacted to the advice given to President Muhammadu Buhari to hand over power to the Nigerian military by Robert Clarke, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu said the Armed Forces of Nigeria remain fully committed to the present administration and all associated democratic institutions.<\/p>\n

Nwachukwu stated that the military shall continue to remain apolitical, subordinate to the civil authority, firmly loyal to the Commander-in-Chief, President Buhari<\/a> and the 1999 Constitution as amended.<\/p>\n

The statement warned politicians<\/a> who nurse the inordinate ambition to rule this country outside the ballot box to banish such thoughts, assuring that the military under the current leadership remain resolute in the defence of Nigeria\u2019s democracy and its growth.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also wish to remind all military<\/a> personnel that it is treasonable to even contemplate this illegality. The full wrath of the law will be brought to bear on any personnel found to collude with people having such agenda.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe current security challenges are not insurmountable. The Armed Forces of Nigeria in partnership with other other security Agencies are working assiduously to ameliorate the challenge. Nigeria will know peace again\u201d, it read.<\/p>\n

Recall that Robert Clarke, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, had called on Buhari to hand over the government to the military temporarily in order to solve the security and economic dilemma Nigeria is facing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe military should take over temporarily, get Nigeria back to six States.. there\u2019s a legitimacy involved in it. So let us start from there.<\/p>\n
