{"id":293585,"date":"2023-10-16T19:03:35","date_gmt":"2023-10-16T18:03:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=293585"},"modified":"2023-10-16T19:05:45","modified_gmt":"2023-10-16T18:05:45","slug":"institute-law-compelling-civil-servants-marry-more-wives-cleric-tells-nigerian-lawmakers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/10\/16\/institute-law-compelling-civil-servants-marry-more-wives-cleric-tells-nigerian-lawmakers\/","title":{"rendered":"Institute law compelling civil servants marry more wives \u2013 Cleric tells Nigerian lawmakers"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>He made the call in his Friday sermon at Takur Commercial Mosque in Dutse, Jigawa State<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>He said that looking at the number of available women within society, there is a need for men to consider adding more wives for the betterment of society<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Aminu Baba Waziri, has called on lawmakers to institute a law that would compel civil servants on Level 12 to take additional wives.<\/p>\n<p>He made the call in his Friday sermon at Takur Commercial Mosque in Dutse, Jigawa State.<\/p>\n<p>He said that looking at the number of available women within society, there is a need for men to consider adding more wives for the betterment of society.<\/p>\n<p>Sheikh Waziri lamented that despite the availability of women, both widows and those who have never married but are willing to get married, men, especially those who have married, are not adding wives.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that marriage is considered one of the most important institutions in Islam, stressing that both the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/05\/07\/lagos-man-arrested-for-brutalising-son-over-inability-to-recite-quran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Quran<\/a> and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasise its importance and the value it holds in the eyes of Allah.<\/p>\n<p>Citing the Holy Quran, he said: \u201cAllah says in Chapter 4:3 \u201cYou fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice, two, or three, or four; but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or that which your right hands possess. That will be more suitable to prevent you from doing injustice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The cleric urged lawmakers to pass a law that would compel civil servants on Level 12 who have only one wife to add
