{"id":294056,"date":"2023-10-20T16:56:59","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:56:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=294056"},"modified":"2023-10-20T16:56:59","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:56:59","slug":"dont-use-our-name-for-recovery-of-money-from-defaulters-efcc-warns-loan-companies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/10\/20\/dont-use-our-name-for-recovery-of-money-from-defaulters-efcc-warns-loan-companies\/","title":{"rendered":"Don\u2019t use our name for recovery of money from defaulters \u2013 EFCC warns loan companies"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Some of the companies send out documents with lists of those on the Commission\u2019s alleged arrest list to scare defaulters into paying their loans<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Urges public to be wary of such claims<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has said the agency does not issue arrest warrants for loan defaulters as allegedly claimed by some of the loan companies.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement released on the official X account of the Commission on Friday, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/06\/04\/kano-central-efcc-withdraws-charges-against-zaura\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EFCC<\/a> stated that they do not issue arrest warrants as purported by the companies.<\/p>\n<p>According to the EFCC, some of the companies send out documents with lists of those on the Commission\u2019s alleged arrest list to scare defaulters into paying their loans.<\/p>\n<p>Dismissing the claim, the Commission warned such companies to desist from such fraudulent engagements as the EFCC may bring them to book.<\/p>\n<p>The statement titled, \u2018EFCC Does not Issue Arrest Warrant on Loan Defaulters\u2019, read, \u201cThe attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been drawn to some contrived documents on \u2018Arrest Warrant Processing,\u2019 \u2018Loan Fraud Escalation,\u2019 and others being circulated by some loan companies, purportedly issued by the Commission against loan defaulters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAuthors of such documents falsely link their threats against loan defaulters to the Commission.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe public is enjoined to be wary of such claims. As a rule, the EFCC does not issue arrest warrants on loan defaulters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLoan companies linking the Commission to their loan recovery efforts should desist from such fraudulent
