{"id":294336,"date":"2023-10-23T08:55:59","date_gmt":"2023-10-23T07:55:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=294336"},"modified":"2023-10-23T08:55:59","modified_gmt":"2023-10-23T07:55:59","slug":"breaking-senior-lawyers-arrive-supreme-court-for-presidential-poll-dispute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/10\/23\/breaking-senior-lawyers-arrive-supreme-court-for-presidential-poll-dispute\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: Senior Lawyers Arrive Supreme Court For Presidential Poll Dispute"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Atiku and his party requested court permission to introduce fresh academic records from Chicago State University and the Registrar&#8217;s deposition.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Atiku\/PDP, Peter Obi\/Labour Party, and APM are appealing the September 6 consolidated judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court, which dismissed their petitions and affirmed Tinubu&#8217;s election.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Prominent lawyers, including Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), the immediate former Chairman of the Body of Benchers, have gathered at the Supreme Court in advance of the 9 a.m. start of the proceedings in the three appeals pertaining to the controversy surrounding the last presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>Leading President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima&#8217;s legal team is Olanipekun, who entered the courtroom at around eight in the morning.<\/p>\n<p>Mike Ozekhome (SAN), a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku Abubakar&#8217;s legal team, Charles Uwensuyi-Edosomwan (SAN), a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sir Steve Adehi (SAN), a member of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and Chukwuma Majukwu Umeh (SAN), a member of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) legal team, are also present in court.<\/p>\n<p>Also in court are Prof Taiwo Osinpitan, SAN; Yusuf Alli, SAN; Babatunde Ogala, SAN ( of the APC, Tinubu and Shettima team); Chris Uche, SAN; Gordy Uche, SAN; Emeka Etiaba, SAN ( all of the Atiku\/PDP legal team.<\/p>\n<p>Others are still walking in.<\/p>\n<p>The appeals are those filed by Atiku\/PDP, Peter Obi\/Labour Party and the APM are, by their three appeals, seeking to upturn the September 6 consolidated judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) which dismissed their petitions and affirmed Tinubu\u2019s election.<\/p>\n<p>Atiku and his party equally filed a motion for the court\u2019s permission to introduce fresh evidence in the form of documents relating to Tinubu\u2019s academic records, which they sourced from the Chicago State University (CSU) and the deposition of the school\u2019s Registrar, Caleb Westberg.<\/p>\n<p>Details shortly\u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Atiku and his party requested court permission to introduce fresh academic records from Chicago State University and the Registrar&#8217;s deposition.
