\/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mrs. Dorcas Nwakor, a resident of Haruna Street, Odoakpu, situated near Sokoto Road in Onitsha, Anambra State, has submitted a formal complaint to the acting Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint pertains to the alleged killing of her son, Chibueze, by officers assigned to the Area Command in Onitsha.<\/p>\n<p>In the petition, which was shared with the media in Onitsha on Monday, Nwakor asserted that her only son, Chibueze, a father of three, was fatally shot by the policemen in the vicinity of his home on October 13, 2023, as he was en route to his place of work.<\/p>\n<p>She made this plea to the acting IGP through her legal representatives, Anayo Emejue and Associates, emphasizing that her son&#8217;s tragic demise occurred without any apparent provocation, with three police officers involved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is our client\u2019s instruction that on October 13, 2023, at Onitsha, Anambra State, a team of three policemen shot their son, husband and brother, Mr Chibueze Nwakor, to death for no justifiable reason,\u201d the petition read in part.<\/p>\n<p>The petitioners described the development as a wilful murder of a citizen without any justification or provocation.<\/p>\n<p>Briefing journalists in his office on Monday, the counsel for the family, Anayo Emejue, said, \u201cWe were told that the three policemen involved in the killing have been detained at the police headquarters in Awka, but when we got to Awka, we saw them moving freely on the streets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was a father of three who hailed from Owerre-Ezukala, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, but he lived with his family at No. 15F Haruna St. close to Sokoto Road junction.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He did not commit any offence, just that he refused to answer their questions and he was shot by trigger-happy policemen and they jumped into their Hiace bus and zoomed off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident, adding that \u201cthe case is still under investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the
