{"id":296076,"date":"2023-11-06T12:17:02","date_gmt":"2023-11-06T11:17:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=296076"},"modified":"2023-11-06T12:17:02","modified_gmt":"2023-11-06T11:17:02","slug":"breaking-court-reserves-judgment-in-kano-govs-appeal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/11\/06\/breaking-court-reserves-judgment-in-kano-govs-appeal\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: Court Reserves Judgment In Kano Gov\u2019s Appeal"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The Independent National Electronic Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Yusuf the winner of the March 18, 2023 election, with 1,019,602 votes, beating Gawuna with 890,705 votes.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The Tribunal, in agreement with the APC, nullified Yusuf&#8217;s election, stating that over 160,000 ballot papers were not signed or stamped by INEC<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Court of appeal in Abuja has reserved judgement on Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf&#8217;s challenge against his removal by the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.<\/p>\n<p>On September 20, the tribunal declared Yusuf&#8217;s election illegitimate, ruling that 165,663 of his votes were invalid.<\/p>\n<p>The panel ruled that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/11\/02\/senate-confirms-three-additional-inec-recs\/\">Independent National Electoral Commission<\/a> did not sign or stamp the ballot papers.
