{"id":296082,"date":"2023-11-06T13:13:26","date_gmt":"2023-11-06T12:13:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=296082"},"modified":"2023-11-06T13:13:26","modified_gmt":"2023-11-06T12:13:26","slug":"fg-to-shut-third-mainland-bridge-for-repairs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/11\/06\/fg-to-shut-third-mainland-bridge-for-repairs\/","title":{"rendered":"FG to shut third mainland bridge for repairs"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The repairs would begin today and the Adekunle exit ramp would be closed to traffic from 9.00 am for two weeks\u2019 rehabilitation after which work would move to other areas<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Federal Ministry of Works has said it would shut the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos today for comprehensive repairs.<\/p>\n<p>The federal controller of works in Lagos State, Mrs Olukorede Kesha, who revealed this at a press conference in Lagos, appealed to motorists to use alternative routes to avert gridlock as comprehensive repair on Adekunle ramps of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/10\/29\/fg-begins-three-month-repair-works-on-third-mainland-on-wednesday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Third Mainland Bridge<\/a> begins today.<\/p>\n<p>She said the repairs would begin today and the Adekunle exit ramp would be closed to traffic from 9.00 am for two weeks\u2019 rehabilitation after which work would move to other areas, adding that the Adekunle section of the bridge had four ramps which had a convergence point.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, the repair of all the ramps would be completed within five weeks, saying the sensitisation became necessary to guide motorists.<\/p>\n<p>Kesha said, \u201cWe are here to sensitise Lagosians on the forthcoming closure of Third Mainland Bridge tomorrow (today) by 9.00 am, the two access ramps to Adekunle will be closed to traffic. What that means is that if you are coming from Iyana Oworo you can go straight. And if you are heading for Lagos Island, the road is still free for you; that bridge is still free for you.<\/p>\n<p>The controller explained that the comprehensive repairs entailed resurfacing of the entire bridge, replacement of expansion joints, solar lights installation, among others.<\/p>\n<p>She said all the vandalised furniture on the highway, including guard rails would be replaced, appealing to the public to be vigilant to report vandals from destroying common assets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The repairs would begin today and the Adekunle exit ramp would be closed to traffic from 9.00 am for two weeks\u2019 rehabilitation after which work would move to other areas The Federal Ministry of Works has said it would shut the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos today for comprehensive repairs.
