{"id":296993,"date":"2023-11-13T09:46:37","date_gmt":"2023-11-13T08:46:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=296993"},"modified":"2023-11-13T09:46:37","modified_gmt":"2023-11-13T08:46:37","slug":"tragic-incident-as-fire-engulfs-commercial-vehicle-in-lagos-kill-three","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/11\/13\/tragic-incident-as-fire-engulfs-commercial-vehicle-in-lagos-kill-three\/","title":{"rendered":"Tragic Incident As Fire Engulfs Commercial Vehicle In Lagos, Kill Three"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The LASEMA boss, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, while lamenting reckless driving on Lagos roads, urged drivers to always exercise caution and shun the habit of drinking while driving.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><b>The Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, while commiserating with the families of the deceased, calls on motorists to drive with caution and desist from speeding.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Three people were killed in an accident involving a commercial bus with the licence plate MUS 753 YD on Sunday after it caught fire along the Lekki motorway in Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>This was revealed in a statement released on Sunday and posted on the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency&#8217;s Facebook page.<\/p>\n<p>The notification claims that the deceased&#8217;s bodies have been moved to the closest mortuary.<\/p>\n<p>The statement read, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/03\/09\/lasema-reveals-cause-of-ikeja-train-brt-collision-speaks-on-casualties\/\">The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA<\/a> deployed its Response Team at Lekki to a scene of a car accident, today, Sunday, 12th November 2023, at Sandfill Bus-stop, inward Ozumba Mbadiwe, Victoria Island.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsequent upon the arrival of the Response Team at the scene, it was discovered that a commercial bus with registration number, MUS 753 YD, was engulfed in fire. Further investigation revealed that the bus went into flames as a result of reckless driving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, the three passengers trapped in the bus were burnt to death. The commodities were bagged and handed over to SEHMU for immediate transit to the morgue. The bus was recovered off the road and moved to Maroko Police Station.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The LASEMA boss, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, while lamenting reckless driving on Lagos roads, urged drivers to always exercise caution and shun the habit of drinking while driving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, while commiserating with the families of the deceased, calls on motorists to drive with caution and desist from speeding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe further laments that commuter drivers are always in the habit of driving recklessly and taking alcohol while driving.
