{"id":298309,"date":"2023-11-23T11:44:32","date_gmt":"2023-11-23T10:44:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=298309"},"modified":"2023-11-23T11:44:32","modified_gmt":"2023-11-23T10:44:32","slug":"fire-guts-kwara-popular-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/11\/23\/fire-guts-kwara-popular-market\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire guts Kwara popular market"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The fire started around 10:30 pm\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Fire service could not ascertain the cause of the fire<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>No fewer than 15 shops were razed down when a rampaging inferno on Wednesday night gutted the popular Oja Tuntun Market in Ilorin, Kwara state capital.<\/p>\n<p>It was learnt that the fire started around 10:30 pm.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson of the Kwara State Fire Service Hassan Adekunle confirmed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/11\/15\/tragedy-strikes-2-killed-1000-homes-lost-in-idp-camp-fire-in-borno\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unfortunate incident<\/a>, adding that the damage was minimal.<\/p>\n<p>He could, however not ascertain the cause\/s of the fire as at the time of filing this report.<\/p>\n<p>According to him: \u201cThe fire service\u2019s prompt and efficient response helped save commodities and property valued at over N25 billion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe cause of the fire couldn\u2019t be affirmed yet while an investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe service urges the residents of the state to always cultivate the habit of switching off their electrical appliances even before bedtime, as this would help prevent the chances of fire outbreaks in their various homes, marketplaces, offices and also help them to drastically reduce it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Governor AbdulRaman Abdulrazaq visited the scene of the fire outbreak yesterday night.<\/p>\n<p>The Governor sympathised with the victims and applauded the commendable efforts of firemen in successfully managing the situation, it was gathered.<\/p>\n<p>Also former Senate President Bukola Saraki commiserated with the victims of the inferno.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed worry over the incessant occurrence of fire outbreaks in the city and called for urgent steps to address it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The fire started around 10:30 pm\u00a0 Fire service could not ascertain the cause of the fire No fewer than 15 shops were razed down when a rampaging inferno on Wednesday night gutted the popular Oja Tuntun Market in Ilorin, Kwara state capital.
